From Colombia to Cambodia, this wedding included decor inspired by two diverse locations
From a breezy modern welcoming reception to a beautiful wedding that stepped back into the majesty of the past, this couple’s wedding in Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa, Thailand, was full of diverse inspirations that came together with stunning effect.
The festivities were planned and designed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Keeran The wedding planner, and every memorable moment was captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – Naman Verma Photography.
Meghna, from Keeran the Wedding Planner, shares what went into creating the functions.
“We got to explore myriad colors and styles, and took the opportunity to take the path less travelled, and really let our creativity flow in designing this wedding. Getting to know the couple and imbibing their personalities into the decor was a lot of fun.”
For the welcome reception hosted in the lobby of the hotel, the decor palette was centered around powder blue and deep blue with accents of peach and burnt orange. Fresh, as well as dry elements & painted leaves, were layered to add character, along with personal quotes from the couple, and the groom in pop up speech bubbles, such as, “Love is all you need, for the rest there is us.” Guests loved the breezy, airy welcome vibe of this reception which paired well with the beach location.
Meghna shares, “The mehndi function was inspired by the beachside city of Cartagena, Colombia, which has colonial-era architecture in vivid colors. We captured the charm and vibe of this beautiful city and its signature windows with the photo booth. A profusion of flowers and fruit in all shapes and colors arranged against the serene backdrop of ivory fabrics and dull wood created a magical vibe. Bulbs painted in matt hues of bright colors added another interesting element.”
“The highlight was the Angkor Wat inspired wedding. The rustic elements of the ancient remains of Angkor Wat, against the blush tones of the florals, made for a spectacular sight. The Jaimala Stage for the garlanding ceremony floated on the pool and made a great statement with the four stone smiling faces of the Bayon Temple. The guests were transported into the glorious past of Angkor Wat as beautifully adorned Thai dancers dressed while apsaras greeted them. An acoustic version of ‘Din Shagna Da,’ sung by the upcoming Riminique, set a tranquil ambiance as the bride walked down the aisle to her groom serenaded by a saxophonist and cellist.”
