The Doubletree Suites Anaheim Convention Center, not to be confused with the Doubletree Anaheim-Orange County, is experienced in Indian and all types of South Asian weddings. This is a venue with indoor function space and one large ballroom – the Tuscany Ballroom that can be divided into sections.

The Tuscany Ballroom seats up to 550 guests for a ceremony and can be divided into sections. The Catering team at the Doubletree will work with you to configure the space optimally for your celebrations.

For a reception this ballroom seats up to 400 guests with a dance floor. You can see a good view of the Tuscany Ballroom in the photo below. Notice the vaulted ceiling, chandeliers, perimeter doors, and the table setting. The Doubletree includes china, flatware, glassware, and linens. Since Indian weddings are usually buffet style, the plates are not pictured because they are stacked at the buffet.

How To Schedule an Indian Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Doubletree Suites Anaheim

There are two common schedules for Indian weddings: the back-to-back day and the time-gap day. The back-to-back day is when the ceremony starts in the later afternoon – usually sometime between 2pm-3pm and cocktail hour starts immediately after the ceremony.

The time-gap day is when the ceremony starts in the morning, usually between 10am-11am and may or may not be followed by lunch. Then there’s a gap, or a break, until cocktail hour starts around 6pm-6:30pm.

How you schedule your wedding at the Doubletree Suites is important because there is one ballroom for your wedding and reception. That means that the room has to be ‘flipped’ in-between the wedding and reception.

With the time-gap day, that’s no worries. The hotel staff and your vendors should have plenty of time. For the back-to-back day because basically your vendors have from when you finish post wedding photos until cocktail hour ends to ‘flip’ the ballroom.

So it’s a bit trickier and may require you to work closely with the hotel, your decorator and DJ, in particular, as the more elaborate decor, lighting, and sound, the more time needed for setup. Don’t worry, it can be done. It just requires more planning and thought to ensure everything is ready in time.

Why Not Just Go With The Time-Gap Day, to Avoid Any Issues With Flipping the Ballroom?

1. It becomes a really long day. To start the ceremony at 10am, means the bride is waking up around 5am or earlier to get ready + pre-ceremony photo sessions and anything religious ceremonies.
2. You might feel obligated to serve lunch after the ceremony. At most weddings with the time-gap day, lunch is served and that means additional cost. How much? It varies, but you can expect at least $10,000. You’re not obligated to serve lunch after the ceremony but it’s kind of poor form not to.

The photo below gives a great view of the Tuscany Ballroom and the layout of the reception. You can see the center aisle has been left open for grand entrances. You can see the centered, elevated sweetheart stage as well as the dance floor. The DJ booth is on stage left. Also you can see the ballroom’s carpeting and chandeliers.

By the way, the hotel will provide and setup the stage and skirting for the stage. Your decorator will bring the furniture. The Doubletree will also provide the wood dance floor. If you want a white or other dance floor, you can rent it and bring it in. The hotel includes other amenities as well such as servers, bartenders, bars, and more.

Contrast the photo above with the one below. They’re both receptions in the Tuscany Ballroom. But notice the chairs. In the photo above, they rented chiavari chairs. In the photo below, they utilized the hotel’s standard banquet chairs that are included in the outside catering package. Which do you prefer?

Also, you can see the differences in the tablescape setup. In the photo above, because it’s a buffet dinner, there are no plates. And notice the napkins are placed flat and there are no wine glasses on the table, as they are in the photo below. Why? Because most Indian weddings have a hosted bar. Still it makes you wonder where the glasses are for the toast?

The Jain Center of Southern California is about 10 miles northeast of the Doubletree Suites Anaheim and is a great venue for a sangeet or garba. As far as preparing Jain food and/or vegetarian food at the Doubletree – that’s something that you’ll work with your caterer on. At the hotel, ask the Catering Manager to include one buffet or section of the buffet for vegetarian food, and Jain food. We also recommend that either you or your caterer has signage indicating the dietary options.

There are two Gurdwaras in Buena Park – both are within 10 miles of the hotel. However, if you prefer to have your wedding ceremony at the hotel, the Doubletree Suites Anaheim would be a great venue for an Anand Karaj.

Below you’ll see an example of an Anand Karaj at a hotel. As you can see they placed white sheets on the floor. In this seating arrangement the Tuscany Ballroom could seat approximately 700 guests.
