The Best Indian Wedding Venues in Southern California for a $100K Budget

by - March 17, 2020

What are the Best Indian Wedding Venues in Southern California for a $100K Budget?

First let’s make 5 assumptions:

  1. your wedding and reception guest count is 350 guests
  2. you plan to serve lunch after the ceremony
  3. you plan to have a sangeet or garba
  4. you plan to have a hosted bar at the reception
  5. assume allocating 40% (or $40,000) to the wedding and reception venue

$40,000 at the venue means on average $114 per guest for the wedding and reception. That means you’re looking for a venue with the following cost break down:

  • Outside Catering Reception Fee: $60 per person INCLUSIVE of service charge and tax
  • Outside Catering Lunch Fee: $40 per person INCLUSIVE of service charge and tax
  • Consumption Bar Estimate: $5000
  • Ceremony Fee: $5000 INCLUSIVE of service charge and tax

How Do The Inclusive Prices Translate To Base Prices That Are Shown in Venue Outside Catering Packages?

Most venue outside catering packages have prices listed as $x++. Where $x is the base price and ++ are service charge and tax. At venues in Southern California that are $60 per person inclusive of service charge and tax have a base price of around $40++. For the outside catered lunch, you’re looking for base prices around $20++. And for the ceremony you’re looking for venues with a base price of $10++ per person, or $14 per person inclusive of service charge and tax. Venues vary with regards to ceremony pricing. Some venues charge a flat ceremony fee. Others charge a per person fee and at some venues service charge and tax are not applicable. So when you’re evaluating pricing, pay attention to this.

Indian Weddings and Negotiating With Venues

Negotiating is part of our culture and it’s something that venues have learned to expect when working with Indian clients. Most venues are willing to negotiate. What varies is the circumstances. For instance, if you’re booking a window 12 months ahead for an outdoor, Saturday, summer wedding in Southern California then the venue will likely negotiate harder than if you were booking an Indian wedding that’s 6 months away and in mid-November.

Why? Because as time goes by, it gets more and more difficult for the venue to acquire a piece of business for that date. Especially a large event such as a 350-guest wedding. And the venue’s interest lies in increasing occupancy. Additionally, Catering Sales Managers want to meet their quotas.

The Irvine Marriott: Indian Wedding Venues in Orange County for $100K Budget

The Irvine Marriott is pretty new to Indian weddings. This hotel would work within a budget of $100K and 350 guests, if you skip lunch or if the venue will negotiate on their per person fees for the outside catered reception and lunch. I’ll break down the Irvine Marriott’s pricing next.

Irvine Marriott Pricing

  • Outside Catered Reception: $50++ per person = ~$67 per person inclusive of service charge and tax
  • Outside Catered Lunch: $40++ per person = ~$54 per person inclusive of service charge and tax
  • Ceremony Fee: $1500

Note: all of these $ are based on a Saturday. The reception outside catering fee on a Sunday or weekday is $45++ which comes to approximately $61 per person inclusive of service charge and tax — so about $6 less per person.

For 350 guests, the venue budget would need to be closer to $50,000 instead of $40,000.

This hotel features two outdoor ceremony terraces that each seat up to 350 guests. The Grand Ballroom seats up to 800 guests for a reception with a dance floor, and can be divided into sections. So you could have your post ceremony lunch in a couple sections and utilize the entire ballroom for your reception.

If you do not require that much space, the Catering team at the Irvine Marriott will advise on the best space combo.

Non-Hotel Venue in Los Angeles

Hummingbird Nest Ranch

Hummingbird Nest Ranch is actually in Ventura County, not Los Angeles County. This all-outdoor venue is tranquil. As mentioned this is an all-outdoor venue so the ceremony and reception would be outdoors. There are multiple venues at the property. Most couples rent at least two spaces, one for the ceremony and another for cocktail hour.

Venue Capacity. The venues at Hummingbird Nest Ranch range in capacity from 300-600-1000.

Pricing and Request Info. The venue rental fees range from $11,000-$13,000 each and have various time allotments associated with each. To learn more about Hummingbird Nest Ranch or request a quote, see the detailed profile on ShaadiShop.

One of the biggest advantages of this venue is you can BYO the alcohol. You must hire a licensed and bonded bartender but BYO’ing the alcohol represents a huge savings that you don’t get at most venues. You can choose to have a back-to-back schedule or the time gap schedule at this venue. Most couples have a back-to-back wedding that goes immediately into cocktail hour and the reception.

The Best Indian Wedding Venues in San Diego for a $100K Budget

San Diego is gorgeous. Most of the venues in San Diego with capacity for an Indian wedding are in the $60++ and higher price range. A base price of $60 means about $80 inclusive of service charge and tax. With 350 guests, that means approximately $28,000 just for the outside catered reception, not including the bar. That also doesn’t include the ceremony and an outside catered lunch.

BUT as state throughout this article, venus WILL negotiate. So we always recommend that you reach out and ask. It NEVER hurts to ask.

Still, here are some of the venues. If you can adjust your budget, guest count, or budget allocation, then some of these venues may work for you.

The Best Indian Wedding Venues in Santa Barbara for a $100K Budget

There are a handful of venues in Santa Barbara that have the space capacity for an Indian wedding. Amongst them, there are two to consider for an Indian wedding for $100K budget.

Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront

This resort hotel minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, is across the street from the ocean. The ceremony space called Plaza del Sol, is level with the beach – in other words, this is not a venue where the ceremony overlooks the ocean, as you can see below.

The outside catered reception does range from $60++ to $80++ per person so this venue may be on the pricier side of the budget for 350 guests. But if you forego the post ceremony lunch, it is possible within $100K

The Best Indian Wedding Venues in the Inland Empire for a $100K Budget

The Inland Empire is not as popular as many other areas in Southern California for an Indian wedding, mainly because these properties are inland and pricing wise are about the same as other venues that are more coastal. Still there are two venues that do attract many Indian weddings.

The Sheraton Fairplex

Pricing is $40++ per person for an outside catered reception and $2000 for the ceremony for up to 300 guests. This venue is popular with couples who are from that area and seek a venue near home.

Diamond Bar Center

The Diamond Bar Center is immensely popular for every Indian wedding event – sangeet, garba, ceremony, and reception. Some couples have their sangeet or garba there and have their wedding and reception elsewhere. Other couples have their ceremony and reception at the Diamond Bar Center.

This venue is so popular that often Saturdays are not available for 1 to 1.5 years in advance. And understandably so as renting the space costs $4100-$5100 and seats 240 guests for an outdoor ceremony and 800 guests in the Grandview Ballroom, which by the way has a built in stage that you can use for a sweetheart stage. You’d still want a dance floor.

Summary

This article is a guide on the the best Indian wedding venues in Southern California for a $100K budget. This can vary on several factors so we made some assumptions which you can see below.

Additionally we detailed specific venues in each of the areas below and linked to each venue’s detailed profile on ShaadiShop where you can request a quote/more information. And lastly we completed the article with links to several Indian wedding guides and resources.

  • Orange County
  • Los Angeles County
  • San Diego County
  • Santa Barbara
  • Inland Empire

Assumptions We Made for an
Indian Wedding with a $100K Budget

  1. your wedding and reception guest count is 350 guests
  2. you plan to serve lunch after the ceremony
  3. you plan to have a sangeet or garba
  4. you plan to have a hosted bar at the reception
  5. assume allocating 40% (or $40,000) to the wedding and reception venue

We broke down the ideal pricing to be on the lookout for at a venue and distinguished between base prices and prices with service charge and tax.

A venue budget of $40,000 means on average $114 per guest for the wedding and reception.

The Ideal Base Prices for $100K Budget

In terms of base prices, this translates to:

Outside Catered Reception Base Price: $40++ Per Person.
Outside Catered Lunch Base Prices ~ $20++ Per Person.
Ceremony Base Price: $10++ Per Person or a flat fee of $approx. $3500
