Just Married

San Jose Marriott

by - May 01, 2020

The San Jose Marriott is a large hotel in downtown San Jose. It’s great for Indian weddings because it has everything large Indian weddings need – event space for hundreds of guests (900 to be exact), hotel room block, easy to get there for locals as well as anyone flying in.

Additionally the San Jose Marriott allows outside catering, baraat – see below for more specific info for Hindu, Jain, Muslim and Sikh weddings.

Host a fun wedding week celebration with the bridal party in the Concierge Club Lounge on the 26th floor of the San Jose Marriott with a patio overlooking Silicon Valley.

Ceremony Venue Capacity

Reception Venue Capacity

  • Indoor Ceremony: 900 guests
  • Outdoor Ceremony: N/A
  • San Jose Ballroom Reception: 600 guests
  • Outdoor Reception: N/A

One Ballroom: The San Jose Marriott has one ballroom – the San Jose Ballroom. That means the wedding ceremony and reception will both take place in that ballroom. The Marriott’s Catering staff at the San Jose Marriott will work with you to configure which sections of the ballroom will be occupied for the ceremony.

Ballroom Setup Logistics: Whichever sections are not occupied for the ceremony, will be setup for the reception and your vendors can start setting up. That way only the sections utilized during the ceremony have to flipped during cocktail hour.

This same applies if you are hosting a post-ceremony lunch.

Airport Info: The hotel is approximately 5 miles south of San Jose International Airport (SJC) and approximately 35 miles south of San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Getting To/From the Hotel: the best way to get to the San Jose Marriott from either airport is to drive or use a rideshare app. The BART doesn’t go to San Jose. Caltrain does but there are no Caltrain stations at SJC nor SFO.

Closest Gurdwaras

If you prefer a traditional setting for your Anand Karaj, you could get married at one of the many Bay area Gurdwaras. It would make most sense to have the Anand Karaj at the San Jose Gurdwara which is approximately 10 miles east of the Marriott. Did you know the San Jose Gurdwara is the largest Gurdwara in North America? And it’s beautiful as you can see from the photos below.
